Fall and Winter Swimming Pool Tips for North Texas

Swimming pools are a wonderful asset to have at your home. It is important that pool owners take proper steps to protect and maintain their investments. With over 27 years in the swimming pool industry, fall and winter are the times of year that I see the most damage done to swimming pool surfaces and equipment due to neglect. In this article, I will discuss some of the more common issues I see and how you can avoid them from being a problem for you and your pool.

I want to recommend that if you are having issues and are not confident in how your pool system works, how to do proper maintenance, water chemistry, or competently perform a repair, please consult a qualified local professional. Frequently I meet pool owners who have wasted large amounts of money and time, and many times make the problem worse because they did not have proper guidance in dealing with their unique pool situation. For many pool owners, it is simply easier and less expensive to have a trained and experienced professional to quickly diagnose and resolve a problem.  Be careful wasting your time and money following tips and guidance from anonymous people on the internet who are not familiar with your unique swimming pool.

Every pool is at least a little different from each other. It is obvious that a pool situation in north Texas would be much different from a pool in Minnesota due to weather, fill water, and different construction methods. Many pool owners don’t realize how different their pool can be from the pool next door. The difference in organic matter that gets in the pool, pool equipment, bather loads, animal/pet activity, surface, and materials that the pool and pool area are constructed of, different pumps, filters, heaters, sanitizing systems, and plumbing can greatly alter the maintenance and water chemistry needs from pool to pool.
